LE TIC TOC CHOC, BY VERA PROKIC
Vera Prokic, piano | Osvaldo Pegudo, Marco Santos, percussion
Le Tic Toc Choc is a project by Vera Prokic , which takes its name and sounds from a journey that unites styles, continents, times and cultures. It is an unprecedented initiative for the interpretation of canonical musical works, through a wide use of percussion. Because, as the famous pianist Vladmir Horowitz said, "we have to transform percussion instrument to a singing instrument". Its main objective is to promote and spread musical culture through concerts, productions and recordings.
The unprecedented nature of the project stems precisely from the piano creation, a melodic percussion instrument, in a musical dialogue that seeks its fair complementarity, in a range of traditional percussion instruments. This guarantees a new melodic, rhythmic and acoustic dimension to the original pieces.
The pieces are not transformed into Jazz, Rock or any other expression different from those in which they were originally conceived by composers such as Couperin, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Satie, Joplin, Tajcevic, Rey Colaço, among others.
The LE-TIC-TOC-CHOC Group is formed by the pianist Vera Prokic . The group performed for the first time in September 2020 at Festival Todos.
