Biography

From the age of five, when she began her musical studies at the Benedictine Convent in her hometown of Zadar, ex-Yugoslavia today is Croatia, Vera Prokic's entire musical training path was marked by excellence, commitment and consequent pedagogical accompaniment. by the most renowned Croatian pianists and teachers, including the pedagogical icon, the famous

Eugen Timakin.

 

With the award for the best student in the Secondary Music Course, her professional career began early: she was invited to the Šibenik Children's Festival, Croatia, where she performed Edward Grieg's Piano Concerto with the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra. Several solo concerts in the former Yugoslavia and recordings for Radiotelevision in Zagreb followed.

 

After completing the five-year Piano Course, Artistic Variant, at the Zagreb Higher School of Music,  from the former Yugoslavia, and enters  to Vienna, Austria, where he does a postgraduate  and studies chamber music.

 

This comprehensive and multipurpose training orients its activities towards the most prestigious artistic and educational institutions in the Croatian capital.

 

For fifteen years she was a permanent teacher at the National Conservatory and accompanying teacher at the Escola Superior de Música. At the same time, and for a period of ten years, he was part of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra as a harpsichordist, organist and pianist. For several seasons he also played the role of conductor and repeater at the National Opera.

 

He also performed at the internationally renowned Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and had a long collaboration as a chamberlain at the World Festival of Contemporary Music in Zagreb, where he developed works with the greatest composers of contemporary music, such as Berio, Cage, Penderecki, Kagel, Detoni and many others. His most important recitals were distributed in ex-Yugoslavia, ex-Soviet Union, Greece, Italy, Austria, Hungary, France and Germany.

He also made television and radio programs, and several  recordings.  

Since taking up residence in Portugal at the end of 1991, Vera Prokic has been teaching at the National Conservatory of Lisbon and, at the same time, collaborating in artistic creation and production projects,

and music education with several prestigious Portuguese institutions.

 

In this sense, it has been working with Fundação dos Amigos das Crianças, Linda-a-Velha School of Music, Lisbon Superior School of Music, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Orchestra and Choir, São Carlos National Theater, Iberian Theater, Almada Theater, National Culture Center and many others, stands out  

University of Évora and collaborates many times  with the Orquestra do Norte.  

 

She was also a collaborating pianist and an element in the organization of master classes with Lela Cuberli, Rudolf Knoll, Marimi del Ponso and Helena Dimitrescu.

 

He is also a pianist at the Associação Ginásio Ópera, for which he recently performed the opera “Rigoletto” by G. Verdi, performed on the mainland and in Madeira. She is also a regular contributor to the Associação Amar as Artes and Operafactory with which she

he also performed the opera “Rigoletto” and a series of concerts under the title Viva Verdi.  

 

He opened his Piano Studio,  dedicated to José Viana da Motta 2008 in Capela Monte Real.  

 

As a soloist, he played all over Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and played a lot of concerts  with lyrical singers and other musicians.

 

Music Project  at the Pharmacy in Praça Conde de Barrão was launched in 2006 and in 2012 it opened its new space with Piano Aquário.  

 

He became seriously ill between 2014 and 2019. At this time he was born  the life project, classical music with piano and percussion, gave it the name, Le Tic Toc Choc.  September 19, 2020, at Festival Todos, it was "come back to the stage" for Vera Prokic, and the first group performance.

  He regularly collaborated with the program “Música e Palavra“, broadcast by the 3rd Radiophonic Program of Zagreb,

for which he writes theoretical and critical texts.
